Trips and Visits

Class 5 had a great trip to Cummins Engineering plant. They used computers to program Micro: bits, designed and raced cars and even got a plant tour seeing behind the scenes.

Rock Kidz visited us again during Anti-bullying week. Here's what they had to say:

What a way to kick off Anti-Bullying Week! 💪🎤🥁🎸

Class 2 had a great morning thanks to Durham University. What a great way to finish their history learning about the Great Fire of London.

Sporting Opportunities

Year 5/ 6 Girls Team

Another great night for our girl's football team finishing 2nd of 5 teams in the cup competition. They played 4 games on the bounce on a really cold night only losing one of them. Excellent team performances all round against high standard opposition. A special mention for standout performances from Phoebe tonight scoring a brilliant solo goal and also Eloise who was so strong in defence. Our goals came from Phoebe and Caitlin who slotted back into the team seamlessly after a long injury lay-off. Fantastic support as always from parents and families. We await confirmation tomorrow that we are through to the next stage of the competition in March. Well done girls

Year 5/ 6 Mixed Football Team

It was the return of boy's football tonight at Meadowfield. Our first match was a closely fought battle. Initially, Finchale took the lead but our team was undeterred. They kept pushing and the goal came from an excellent through ball from Joseph which Harry calmly slotted in. The following match against Bowburn was tough with strong attacking play throughout from them. Harvey made some great saves to keep us in the game and special mentions must go to both James and Charlie who linked up really well in defence to try to limit their opportunities. Final score 2-0. Thank you, as always, to parents and families who came to support.

Our School Choir

Congratulations to our amazing choir for making it to the final of the North East Primary Choir Competition at The Glasshouse in February. They sang beautifully and we couldn’t be prouder of you all.

A big thank you to all of the parents who came along to support us — it really means a lot.

And a very special thank you to Mrs Jones and Mrs Turnbull for all their hard work, enthusiasm, and brilliant preparation.

Well done to our wonderful choir who entertained the Tesco shoppers this afternoon. A special thank you to Sue, our local area community champion, for their little treats.

Assemblies

Anti-bullying showcase assembly

It was a very special assembly today as each class shared their thoughtful work around anti-bullying: giving compliments to others, designing odd socks to represent how we are all different but all equal, how it is our right to be ourselves and making kindness chains for all of the kind acts we do, to name just a few. Of course, we know that these messages matter every day and not just this week.

Raising Awareness and Supporting Charities

We have the kindest families. Thank you so much for all of your donations. We're very proud to support County Durham and Sunderland Foodbank.
